Course Description
The Lake Mead Marathon is a hilly out and back course on Lakeshore and Northshore Drives. There are some longer ascents and descents (about a mile) from 1 to 8% grades. Some of the shorter hills may be steeper than this. The course is completely on pavement.

The hilly Lake Mead Marathon starts at Boulder Beach. After the start, the course takes an immediate quarter mile gradual climb. The following 3.5 miles on the River Mountain Loop Trail are a series of rolling and mostly flat sections. The course then has a mile long uphill climb that to the first turnaround. Runners will then return via the same route towards the start/finish area to complete a shorter out-and-back section. On this second out-and-back section, runners will encounter a 1.5 mile uphill climb, turnaround and return to the start/finish line to start a second lap of the course.
