  • Santa Rosa Marathon (Santa Rosa, CA) — SOLD OUT
    August 30, 2026. A flat and fast tour through the heart of California’s beautiful wine country. Starting and ending in Santa Rosa, this course is highly regarded for its cool morning temperatures and scenic, flat pathway along the Santa Rosa Creek, making it a highly sought after West Coast BQ target.

  • New England Green River Marathon (Marlboro, VT to Greenfield, MA) — SOLD OUT
    August 30, 2026. Starting in Vermont and finishing in Massachusetts, this gorgeous point-to-point course follows the Green River on a rolling, gentle downhill grade. Nestled under a dense canopy of early autumn leaves, it is a bucket list race that often fills up extremely early.

  • Millennium Meadows Marathon (Grand Rapids, MI)
    August 30, 2026. Shaded and incredibly flat, this race winds through Grand Rapids' scenic Millennium Park. Scheduled a couple of weeks prior to the final Boston registration weekend, the multi-loop course provides a fantastic setting to achieve or improve your qualifying time.

  • Marquette Marathon (Marquette, MI)
    September 5, 2026. Point-to-point and fast, this upper-Michigan favorite features a net-downhill drop of several hundred feet, largely along the paved Iron Ore Heritage Trail. Runners love the quiet, forested setting and cool, late-summer morning air coming off Lake Superior.

  • Runtastic NEBO Marathon (Payson, UT)
    September 5, 2026. If you want absolute speed assisted by gravity, NEBO offers a massive, breathtaking downhill with a net drop of 4,500 feet. Runners attempting to qualify on this course will receive a 10 minute time penalty due to the new Boston downhill course penalties.

  • Cascade Express Marathon (North Bend, WA)
    September 12, 2026. A stellar point-to-point Pacific Northwest option that shares portions of the Snoqualmie trail system. Boasting a gradual, net-downhill drop of nearly 1,500 feet (no downhill time penalty) on packed gravel, it ranks among the highest-percentage BQ courses in the country, with roughly 1 in 4 finishers historically hitting their standard here.

  • Appletree Marathon (Vancouver, WA)
    September 12–13, 2026. Located just across the river from Portland, Oregon, the Appletree Marathon is a flat, scenic loop through historic Vancouver. The flat, fast course provides a great, late-summer option for runners looking to qualify before the registration deadline.

    September 12, 2026. Set on a flat, fast multi-loop course along the scenic Fox River Trail, this race is engineered specifically for runners targeting Boston qualifications. Because it is highly optimized with specialized pacing groups and elite-level course support, typically well over 50% of the field achieves Boston qualifying times.

  • Erie Marathon (Erie, PA)
    September 13, 2026. Held at Presque Isle State Park, this race is flat, fast, and famous for helping runners punch their ticket to Boston. The double-loop course is heavily shaded and features a total elevation change of under 100 feet. It is widely considered one of the top BQ courses in the country due to its consistent high qualification percentage.

  • Last Chance BQ.2 Marathon (Grand Rapids, MI)
    September 13, 2026. This race is built for one solitary purpose: to get you to Boston. It features an elite-style setup on a looped, heavily shaded, ultra-flat paved path. It is capped at around 330 runners and enforces a strict 4:30 time limit (unless your official BQ age standard allows for longer). It routinely boasts an incredible BQ rate hovering around 60%.

  • Tunnel Light Marathon (North Bend, WA)
    September 13, 2026. Part of the famous Tunnel Marathon series, this race utilizes a packed-gravel rail trail that offers a consistent, gentle downhill grade through the Cascade Mountains. It’s an incredibly fast course, though runners should prepare for the unique experience of running through a dark, unlit 2.4-mile tunnel early in the race. The course has been redesigned so that there is no downhill time penalty.

  • Boston or Bust Marathon (Huntsville, AL)
    September 13, 2026. Held at Ditto Landing along the scenic Tennessee River, the course is very flat and utilizes paved greenway trails, making it an excellent local option for Southern runners making a final sprint for a BQ.

  • Wicked Fast Marathon (Lehigh Valley, PA)
    September 13, 2026. True to its name, this race delivers a fast, point-to-point, net-downhill path along a beautiful rail trail. The gentle descent minimizes joint pounding while maximizing your turnover, giving you an optimal environment to slide under the Boston cut-off time.
