Race was well organized. Packet pick up was easy. Not an expo but there were a few things if you needed them. Easy parking for shuttles to start. Plenty of port-a-lets at start. Course was very well marked, great volunteers and good police presence so you always felt safe on the main roads. Coming from Florida, I wouldn't say it's "pancake flat" but enough inclines and turns to keep things interesting. Nothing felt challenging. Ran thru some beautiful parks/trails. Awesome finish line and post-race party. Love the Bling. Would do this race again. Got a 9 min PR and BQd with 11 min to spare.
Race Tips
Mile markers are on permanent poles so look higher than you'd expect. Definitely enough water and volunteers.
We stayed in Hampton and it was an easy 15 min drive.

2017 marathon was a disaster. Many water stations empty and vacant for last 10 miles. Post race refreshments near nothing an terrible line up. Promised prizes for winning age category never received. If you quit 1/2 way you got a result for 1/2 marathon instead of a dnf.

Well organized, Start and finish went without a hitch. Water stops were adequate and strategically located just prior to an uphill challenge. The SWAG included a stellar medallion, stunning tech shirt and a full blanket with the marathon logo. The course was hilly and caught many people out of their norm.
Race Tips
I took the course as a training run and fortunately did not try to race it from the start. Although I ran just the half I kept my marathon pace consistent for the first three miles and got a good feel for the rest of the course. I took on some water at almost every station. The hills will drain your liquids. I used an increased breathing cadence as I scaled every hill pumping oxygen into the system before the muscles called for it.
Excellent choice for a training run 4 to six weeks prior to your main event. Don't expect to PR unless this your first race. Run for fun or training.
Adequate parking near by the Hall of Fame if you arrive an hour prior to race time. Shuttle busses are provided if you park in the County Fair Grounds.

I was excited to run this race, but as I went along , the 'boring' route seemed to dole along. The roads were kind of rough and there was really no break from it. The inclines were descent to run, there was nothing too strenuous that would cause early burnout. The medals and blanket are very nice.
Race Tips
I wished I would have worn my thicker shoes for this run. The hole up prior to the race gets really congested early, so you should get into your timing position early, the pace signs and runners are easy to find.
There was parking at a nearby mall with security around, then we were bussed to the starting area. We had our running bags already in place. Try to arrive at least 45 to one hour earlier. There are places to relax, as in ground areas to stretch and get ready. Plenty of porta- johns.
