Real runner feedback on course feel, crowd support, aid stations, and logistics (parking, hotels, restaurants).
Horrible course. No monuments or sights on route. Course mostly goes through sketchy parts of town. Poor organization. Snowed night before and 33 at start - no warming stations. Plenty of water tables. Pizza at finish. Zero crowd support. Poor expo. No swag. Cheap, cheesy medal.
This is not a course to try for a PR or BQ. Don't expect to have any scenery to look at.
Point to point with shuttles. Shuttles worked fine in the AM, but last one leaves at 5:45 so you've got at least 1 hour to stand around at start.
The first 1/2 of the race is awesome while running through the heart of the Capital, i.e. White House, Capital building, etc. The second 1/2 was an afterthought as you run through the hilly industrial area of D.C. The race is a 1/2 and full combo and most participants are running the 1/2.
Course is mainly flat with rolling hills in the second 1/2.
Some good room rates for participants through the race website. Staying in D.C. can be expensive so take advantage of the race website.
