Real runner feedback on course feel, crowd support, aid stations, and logistics (parking, hotels, restaurants).
It was a small marathon which I liked. It is now an out and back marathon. The wind was brutal on the way back but there are very few inclines.
I had to run faster than planned during the first half because of the wind at my back. I ran slower than planned on the second half as I ran into the wind.
I stayed in Ocean City. It was peaceful.
Beautiful scenery, but the breeze of the ocean made it much colder.
If you're looking for a big crowd, with a lot of spectators, and gaudy finisher's medal - this race isn't for you.
Last year, they offered a shuttle from the 10k finish line (at 18th & Boardwalk in North Wildwood) to the race start. I suggest finding accommodations there to ease the transportation burden in the morning. There's some really nice condos on the Boardwalk for rent right there - so making a nice weekend out of it is recommended. They also have a group on Facebook - 'Ocean Drive Marathon & 10 Mile Run'
