Real runner feedback on course feel, crowd support, aid stations, and logistics (parking, hotels, restaurants).
The course was relatively flat the whole way through! Except for a bridge right at mile 26, that really sucked. There were plenty of aid stations. Since this is a smaller race, crowed support was minimal, but it was easy for my family and friends to drive around and cheer me on.
Lots of running through farmland, with zero protection from wind. Several long stretches of lonely road. If you don't often run alone, this might be challenging. Not many port-a-potties, have a plan for when to stop
Very easy to PR and negative split. The course is a big loop, with just a few miles of out-and-back. You start of running a mile around the race track which is a pretty neat experience.
Expect headwinds, little crowd support, well stocked aid stations, friendly staff. There were a few pacers, that really helped since it was a small race to begin with
Plenty of hotels in the area, or you could stay at dover downs race track. Easy to find. Plenty of parking in the morning, don't need to get there too early. The start line was also very easy to line-up. Be smart and this is a PR for sure
Loved the pre-race tribute to Wounded Warriors with National Anthem and God Bless America. Run first mile inside the NASCAR International speedway track. Course was pretty dern flat, crowd support was thin but enthusiastic. Volunteers and traffic control top notch. Pacers in a small race are hard to find but they had them here. I have done this race twice and highly recommend.
Post race food is pizza so if you get queasy as I do after 26.2 and can't take the heavy, acidy food you may want to bring a post race snack or food with you.
Good shirt, good medal, flat course. Post-race amenities were definitely lacking, but there were plenty of water stations on the course.
Bring your own gels, they only provided them at two stations.
Take advantage of the shower at the YMCA afterwards, it was very nice.
Great course and race organization.
There was not much offered for post race refreshments.
Flat course that is conducive to steady pace strategy.
