  Flat, scenic with pacers!

By about 2023

Review

Pace groups were spot on. Scenic up and back along Lake Michigan.

Flat so potential for a fast race. Small race. No frills. Do not expect an expo or swag. Hamburgers after race.

Race Tips

In 2023, we had a headwind for half of the race until the turn around.

15 minute ahead of start is all that's needed.

Easy to get running your pace. Can see other runners at turn around.

Logistical Tips (Hotels, Restaurants, Parking, Discounts, etc.)

Easy parking, Airbnb's in area.

80 miles from Milwaukee airport. Green Bay is closer but no direct flights for me.

Excellent organization but no shade the whole course and too hot

By about 2021

Review

Excellent organization from an water and aid station perspective, started on time, volunteers along the whole course, finisher medals, t-shirt, easy to find parking. Course is also USATF certified for those looking to qualify for Boston. Marathon is small, less than 300 people with little overlap with half marathoners.

Race Tips

If it's sunny, definitely wear lighter, brighter clothing, sun hat, sunglasses, sunblock everywhere. If possible, bring support to dump cold water along the way, because the course has NO SHADE.

Disappointed that while the race director advertised that the course was flat, it's not that easy to BQ because the weather is a big factor in terms of being able to perform at a high level since there is NO SHADE ALONG THE ENTIRE COURSE.

  PR course

By about 2019

Review

This is a spectacular course run almost entirely along the Lake Michigan lakefront. It is usually cool (lake breeze) and super flat. The race is very well organized and friendly.

Race Tips

The only significant hill is in the last mile or so, so be sure to save a bit of oomph for it. Also, the number of registrants is a bit small, which may make for many solo miles; however, the course is VERY accessible to friends and family...many places to hopscotch along and cheer.

Logistical Tips (Hotels, Restaurants, Parking, Discounts, etc.)

The nearby accommodations are a bit sparse and hard to come by if you sign up late.

  Great Out and Back

By about 2019

Review

Gotta love a flat marathon course. Biggest hill is right at the end...it's maybe 30 feet in elevation gain. It's also a nice course right along the lake shore. Organizers are great, lots of support stations. Multiple places along the course for spectators to move to to cheer you as you go.

They also give out socks in the swag bag that are amazing.

Race Tips

It's super flat. Just run your best race. Weather is likely to be perfect, might get a little warm if the sun comes out.

Logistical Tips (Hotels, Restaurants, Parking, Discounts, etc.)

We stayed in an AirBnB in Two Rivers about 10 minutes away. Nice state beach there and shops to walk to.
