Real runner feedback on course feel, crowd support, aid stations, and logistics (parking, hotels, restaurants).
The traffic control between Puu and Waha feeder roads were not well managed for cars and runners. No or little communication whereby cars were in same lane and head on since no all feeder streets had radio communication thus causing a lot of confusion and potentially dangerous curves for the runners.
Please have all feeder streets with radio communication.

This was my first marathon. I ran in 2012. I used to live in Kauai and traveled for the marathon. A huge part of the island community comes out for the race as either volunteers or spectators or runners. The course is beautiful but challenging. You will probably experience a light shower or two or three. This will be welcome as the climate is tropical and you will be warm running. Locals offer emotional support in the form of cheering, music, and dancing. They also offer snacks and drinks in addition to that provided by aid stations. A banana from a kind family at around mile 15 gave me just what I needed to keep going. A young man in a beach chair along a quiet stretch of Puu Road sat beside his truck and cheered runners going by.
Expo was excellent, course covered tree tunnel, ocean views, mountain views and climbs, scenic local areas and some views of popular hang out spots. Post race hot towel, drinks, and massage were greatly appreciated. The medal was perfect: not too big, not too small, and depicted the race perfectly with the shape of Kauai with a runner over the shape. Still the best and nicest race medal I have ever received and I have run hundreds of races. Kauai and its people are the best. This is a wonderful marathon.
Expect heat and humidity and rain showers. Expect long steep climbs and rolling hills. Expect breathtaking beauty.
Make it an experience and stay at race hotel or near start. Sheraton is walking distance from start and finish.
The staff is #1 - Prifessional and full of Aloha!
The course is not only breath taking but also challenging for all! The full marathon is worth its weight for all those who run full marathons!
So come on out and experience one of the best world class races! Take this journey and be inspired!
Very well organized from the Expo to the Finish Line. Aid stations every mile for 2nd half of marathon. Few but vocal spectators for 2nd half.
This is a HOT and HILLY race especially the 2nd half. First 11 miles is run with half marathoners so do not get caught up in their pace. Hydrate early and often.
The challenge of the hills. Plenty of aid stations. Very pretty. Local support
Not a pr course, Pace beginning, Hydrate early and often, Bring nutrition, Keep eyes open as course is beautiful
Plenty of condos close by..If not use to humid climate get there a few days to a week early...Keep hydrated
