5 Stars from 1 ReviewsThe Irving Marathon is a Boston-qualifying road race located in Las Colinas, Texas. The course is an exceptionally flat and fast, designed specifically to help runners achieve Personal Records (PRs) and Boston qualifying times. The course avoids the hills typically found in North Texas, making it one of the flattest marathon courses in the region.
The course follows a multi-loop route, starting and finishing at the Toyota Music Factory. The terrain consists entirely of paved asphalt and concrete city streets. The route navigates the Las Colinas urban center and surrounding scenic waterways, including segments along Lake Carolyn and the Las Colinas Urban Creek. Because the course utilizes wide thoroughfares and a loop configuration, runners encounter several 180-degree turns at turnaround points, which require a brief adjustment in rhythm.
The elevation is predominantly flat, with a total elevation gain that is among the lowest for marathons in Texas. There are no major climbs or technical trail sections.
The Irving Marathon is an ideal PR course. It is best suited for runners who are good at locking into a specific goal pace and holding it for 26.2 miles. PR attempts are most successful for those who can maintain focus during the repeated loops and manage their effort during the exposed, sun-drenched stretches of Las Colinas. It is a top choice for athletes specifically targeting a Boston Marathon qualifying time on a flat course.
Don't waste months of training only to run the wrong pace.
