The Valley to the Sea Marathon course travels from the Humpback Whale Sanctuary in Kihei to the Iao Valley Needle and back to Kihei. The course climbs from sea level to nearly 1,000 feet to Iao Valley State Park and then returns down to the finish back at sea level.
