**The 2016 Marathon will not be held, but will merge with the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon**
The Indianapolis Marathon course starts with a loop through historic Fort Benjamin Harrison along the tree-lined Fort Parade Grounds. The course then heads North for a loop through Fort Harrison State Park. The Marathon continues through the State Park to Fall Creek Parkway. This begins a flat, approximately 11 mile, tree-lined, creek side, out and back stretch along Fall Creek Corridor Park before returning to the finish line via the State Park.
The first half of the marathon is rolling hills. Just before the halfway point, runners are treated to a mile downhill section that leads to a very flat 11 mile section. Just before mile 25 runners will be challenged by a mile long climb that gains approximately 125 feet before a flat last section.
**Will merge with the Indianapolis Monumental Marathon in 2016**
