Poor organization and follow-through from organizers

I really wanted to enjoy this marathon (2019 race). In fact, the weather was perfect, and the course is a simple out-and-back which made it mindless and easy to do. But the organization of this race is really terrible and honestly had it been hotter out, it would have been dangerous. I even found a similar review from a few years back and they assured me that they would not have similar issues again (except they did).
- Told to arrive by 6:30 in order to get our chips, but they had only 2 people, so the race start was delayed because they didn't have enough people doing the check-in and the line took too long (race was supposed to start at 7:05).
- One bathroom for men and one for women (each with just one stall) also delayed the race start
- **Most importantly** We were promised aid stations every 2 miles (that's 13 aid stations total then), instead we got 7. There was one stretch where the aid stations were almost 5 miles apart from each other. It sort of became a mental game of "when will I pass the next aid station?" Some only had water and bananas, then later in the race some had gatorade (some). I ended up grabbing a whole water bottle at the 10 mi aid station and running with that to ensure I was able to get my hydration needs met.
- I knew there was going to be some issues when the week of the race, they still had not set packet pickup times.
- I emailed them 4 days before the race to ask about energy/gels, and the response was "what would you like"...these things should be set up already. When I got to packet pickup, the day before the race, they still had no information about this. So I packed my own gels into my race belt.
- We were promised cooked food after the finish (eggs, pancakes). The station was there, but there was no one cooking anything. Instead, all that was available was some semi-dry banana bread. They didn't even have water bottles out, we had to find some in a package and take one ourselves.
Overall just very disappointed with the race. It was an easy, relatively flat course and I will acknowledge the medal is pretty nice (and the tank top shirt are good too). But I cannot recommend this race.

Avoid the marathon event!

The course is not closed to bikers, intersection crossings are unassisted, no mile markers, volunteers were unfriendly. Overall I've never hated a race more - poorly organized and poorly supported - participate at your own risk.

This is a very good Race!
I ran it last year and the temp was perfect, about 58 degrees with no sun and a slight drizzle.
The course is all flat and is out and back. It is a paved trail next to the highway - so you have trees on one side and the highway on the other side! There are water stations throughout which makes it nice because on the way back through you know exactly where the water will be! at the half way (turnaround) there is water also. If I would have trained for this marathon I probably would have BQ'd, but instead I ran in October and was 2 mins from qualifying and then just decided not to run before this race. (very bad idea!) Even without training at all, I still ran it in less than 4 1/2 hours.
Overall Great experience and hope to be even better this year!
