Real runner feedback on course feel, crowd support, aid stations, and logistics (parking, hotels, restaurants).
Savannah is awesome! The people/fans/bands/volunteers were great. HOWEVER, the Rock n Roll franchise has taken a fun event and turned it in to a nickel and dime business. I blame Ironman who recently took over the franchise (which is why I stopped doing those as well). Cheap participant shirt and you have to pay for any finisher swag. Shame on them for charging and arm and a leg and then nickel and diming the consumer.
Roads are crowned so think about working the center of the streets. Miles 12-16 (which I believe are also 19-24) are on a slant (the parkway roads) and the ramps are really the only hills, so that's going to leave a mark.
We stayed in the Hampton in Historic Downtown which had corral #5 right out the front door (1 mile from finish so not a bad shuffle). Highly recommend it. Moon River Brewing company was great - toast at 6pm is fun....
Great support from the city and its citizens. Fairly flat and easy.
Beautiful course. Loved the support from the people in Savannah. Running around Savannah State University was a lot of fun, and the students were very encouraging when you needed it the most.
We stayed at the Hyatt, which was right next to the start line. Perfect location. Walked out of the hotel at 6:45 for a 7:00 start time.
Beautiful city, lots to do.
Flat, easy course. Let it fly!
Hotels very reasonable and plentiful. Stayed at a B&B it was amazing.
