Review

For the inaugural year of the marathon, I was very impressed! From packet pickup to the post race party everything was very well organized and all the volunteers were super friendly. It is a small race but that is part of its charm. After you separated from the half marathoners you did not see too many other runners. Despite few runners, the course was well marked and there was a volunteer at every turn and street crossing so you can not get lost. The scenery on the course was beautiful. Spanish moss hanging from every tree. The temperature was near perfect at the start but it got a little warm toward the end when shade was harder to come by. I only had two negatives about the race. First they need more water stops. 4 mile between water is too much for me. Second they need to start the marathon earlier. With a 9:00am start you are finishing after 12:00 and it was getting warm. Otherwise I would highly recommend this marathon.

Race Tips

Consider carrying water unless the add more water stops. There were 4 miles between a couple of water stops which was too much especially with a 9:00am start which I consider a late start for a marathon.

Logistical Tips (Hotels, Restaurants, Parking, Discounts, etc.)

This race is so well organized that all the logistics they provided worked smoothly. From packet pickup to parking to the shuttle from parking to the start it worked perfectly.
