I really liked this marathon. I have only run one other, the Portland Marathon in 2013. I decided to run this one for my Boston Qualifier. I'm glad I did because I have come to really appreciate the host of this race. They have close ties with the local community and were named in runners world as one of the top 10 newer marathons in 2014.

Race Tips

The course starts out really flat for the first 14 miles. Then you enter the back half with 2 minimal hills at mile 15 and at 19-20. then again runs flat to the finish. Pacing this course requires you to hold back a little in the beginning so you can manage those two hills. I ran 3:19 at Portland then followed it up with 3:08 at Vancouver.

Logistical Tips (Hotels, Restaurants, Parking, Discounts, etc.)

Vancouver USA host monthly What runs where they start at a local coffee or bar and when you finish they buy the first rounds for the runners. Mile 16-17 are great spots for friends and family to cheer you on and since it is a smaller race you will have less traffic to deal with getting in and out.
