**2016 Marathon canceled due to weather**
The Race the Lake Marathon circles clockwise around Otsego Lake. Runners will travel through Cooperstown, Springfield, Middlefield and the Town of Otsego. Runners have views of the lake almost all the way as the course passes Glimmerglass Opera, The Farmers Museum, The Otesaga Resort Hotel and several other landmarks.
The course is challenging with lots of rolling hills. The course elevation peaks at about 1,530 feet at mile 15.5 - approximately 350 feet above the low point of the course.
The Race the Lake Marathon was the 459th largest marathon in the U.S. last year and was the 574th largest in 2014.
Last year 5.3% of finishers qualified for the Boston Marathon and 9.1% of runners qualified for Boston in 2014.
This gives the Race the Lake Marathon the 372nd highest percentage of Boston Marathon qualifiers in the U.S. last year and the 224th highest percentage in 2014.
