The Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope course drops over 400 feet (about 125m) from the starting line to the finish. The flat terrain, gentle downhill, completely flat last 7 miles, and cool weather makes this one of the fastest marathons in North America.
The course starts at ArcelorMittal Dofasco Park, at Green Mountain Road and First Road East in Stoney Creek. The first 15k of the marathon is along the back country roads of Hamilton, and the edge of the escarpment. The course then travels towards the Red Hill Expressway. Runners will enjoy this down hill coast and the beautiful scenery of the Red Hill. After the exit of the Red Hill the course goes towards Beach Blvd, running towards Burlington and then turning on the Waterfront Trail. The last 7km are along the lake.
The Hamilton Marathon Road2Hope was the 9th largest marathon in Canada last year and was the 10th largest in 2014.
This year 27.2% of finishers qualified for the Boston Marathon and 19.2% of runners qualified for Boston in 2015.
