Foot Traffic Flat Marathon

Portland, OR
Thursday, July 4, 2024

  5 Stars from 1 Reviews

Description

The Foot Traffic Flat Marathon is a flat, fast course in Sauvie Island (15 minutes north of Portland, OR).

If the 4th falls on a cool day, PRs and BQs will be very achievable on this fast course.

The race starts and finishes at the Pumpkin Patch and will feature our regular half marathon loop as well as an out and back along Sauvie Island Rd. The course is very flat with a few gentle rolls along Sauvie Island Rd., when you rise up onto the levy, & on the short out & back section near the school.

Leo's review of 2017 Foot Traffic Flat Marathon.

Review

I have ran this race since it's inaugural in 2003. All half marathons though I did do the Full in 2012 as my 10th year running the event. The 1/2 marathon is a single loop on paved roads. It is an agricultural community with farms and fields. The Full marathon runs the same loop as the 1/2 plus an additional rout that spans the Columbia channel on the west side of the island. Beautiful course and plenty of water stations.

Race Tips

Only draw back is that the heat may get to you on the full marathon; July is a hot month for marathon running and not ideal but it is a flat and fast event.

Logistical Tips (Hotels, Restaurants, Parking, Discounts, etc.)

Shuttles are available for a small fee, parking has gotten better over the years.
