The River Towns Marathon starts in the F.Q. Hartman Park at the western end of Front street and first travels to the Mill Street shopping district.
From Mill Street, the course travels on Bloom Road past the Geisinger Medical Center Campus. Runners will continue on Bloom Road for the next a little more than six miles. On Quarry Road, approximately mile seven, the course climbs 200 feet.
After the hill, the course is mostly flat past the half way point as it runs along the Susquehanna River.
The course runs back on Danville's Mill Street to the finish.
The River Towns Marathon was the th largest marathon in the U.S. last year and was the th largest in 2014.
