The Quebec City Marathon is a net downhill point-to-point course with more than 31km (almost 20 miles) of the course running along the mostly flat shores of the St. Lawrence River. Despite the course being net downhill with long flat sections, runners will also encounter several areas with rolling hills. The race starts on the south shore, crosses the historic Quebec Bridge and finishes in the heart of Old Quebec.

This year 16.7% of finishers qualified for the Boston Marathon and 13.1% of runners qualified for Boston in 2015.
This gives the Quebec City Marathon the 23rd highest percentage of Boston Marathon qualifiers in Canada last year and the 16th highest percentage so far in 2016.
