Course Description

The Washington D.C. North Face Endurance Challenge course consists of 50% singletrack, 30% dirt or gravel doubletrack, 10% gravel carriage road and 10% paved road. The course starts at Algonkian Park. Once runners reach Great Falls Park they turn back through flat Potomac Heritage Trail and finish back at Algonkian Park.

I ran the half marathon. The course was a single-track trail that we ran out and back. It rained two days before and the trail was so muddy it was like doing a Warrior Dash. I don't mind mud though--it's a trail run after all. What bothered me the most was that the trail wasn't wide enough to support runners going both ways. Too many times I stepped into nettles while avoiding incoming runners...
