Course Description

The downhill Mississauga Marathon course loses approximately 250 feet from start to finish. There are some small hills around 10km and 30km. This downhill and flat course, coupled with relatively good temperatures on a typical race day, can lead to PRs and BQs for many runners. If the weather is cooler than normal and the humidity is low, the Mississauga Marathon can be one of the fastest courses in Canada and the United States.

The course starts at Mississauga's City Hall, and makes its way west across the Credit River to Mississauga Road and then travels south for a stretch past the University of Toronto's Mississauga Campus, Mississaugua Golf and Country Club, and continues through residential neighborhoods, before winding along Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail, and finishing on the edge of Lake Ontario at Lakefront Promenade Park.

Marathon Rankings

The Mississauga Marathon was the 11th largest marathon in Canada last year and was the 11th largest in 2014.

This year 16.9% of finishers qualified for the Boston Marathon and 12.6% of runners qualified for Boston in 2015.

This gives the Mississauga Marathon the 25th highest percentage of Boston Marathon qualifiers in Canada last year and the 11th highest percentage so far in 2016.

Its Course Score of 100.14 ranks it as the 3rd fastest marathon course in Canada and the 3rd fastest course in Ontario.

The typical race time temperature and humidity levels are within the ideal range for optimal marathon performance. This, coupled with the Course Score, gives the Mississauga Marathon a PR Score of 100.14. This PR Score ranks it as the 3rd fastest marathon in Canada and the 3rd fastest in Ontario.

Definitely a great downhill for PBs and BQs. Very entertaining event too. Came for my run the first year but brought the whole family back the next to enjoy it.

Race Tips

Scenic. Great race bag. Not normally concerned with that type of things for runs but this one was loaded. Some nice added value.

They do receive discounted rates from partner hotels and offer a free shuttle service.

Fantastic course, very scenic, not too crowded, well organized. Totally enjoyable!

Race Tips

The first 8 miles are noticeably downhill, whereas around mile 18 or 19 it feels like the inclines are bigger than they are, so pace yourself!

Logistical Tips (Hotels, Restaurants, Parking, Discounts, etc.)

Taxis can cost you an arm and a leg if you don't know where to stay. I would recommend staying by the Square One Mall, which is the start line. There are also shuttles from the finish line back to Square One. This will save you a lot of $!
