The downhill Mississauga Marathon course loses approximately 250 feet from start to finish. There are some small hills around 10km and 30km. This downhill and flat course, coupled with relatively good temperatures on a typical race day, can lead to PRs and BQs for many runners. If the weather is cooler than normal and the humidity is low, the Mississauga Marathon can be one of the fastest courses in Canada and the United States.
The course starts at Mississauga's City Hall, and makes its way west across the Credit River to Mississauga Road and then travels south for a stretch past the University of Toronto's Mississauga Campus, Mississaugua Golf and Country Club, and continues through residential neighborhoods, before winding along Lake Ontario Waterfront Trail, and finishing on the edge of Lake Ontario at Lakefront Promenade Park.
The Mississauga Marathon was the 11th largest marathon in Canada last year and was the 11th largest in 2015.
Last year 16.9% of finishers qualified for the Boston Marathon and 12.6% of runners qualified for Boston in 2015.
This gives the Mississauga Marathon the 16th highest percentage of Boston Marathon qualifiers in Canada last year and the 26th highest percentage in 2015.
Its Course Score of 100.14 ranks it as the 2nd fastest marathon course in Canada and the 2nd fastest course in Ontario.
The typical race time temperature and humidity levels are within the ideal range for optimal marathon performance. This, coupled with the Course Score, gives the Mississauga Marathon a PR Score of 100.14. This PR Score ranks it as the 2nd fastest marathon in Canada and the 2nd fastest in Ontario.
