The two loop out and back Lake Placid Marathon course is moderate rolling with some flat sections and a few steep hills. The most significant hills are near the ski jumps on Route 73 (twice for the full marathon) and leading up to the finish behind the Lake Placid High School (once for the full marathon). Each of these hills is approximately 3/10 of a mile long.
Most of the course is run on asphalt roads with approximately 0.8 miles of gravel and dirt inside the Horseshow Grounds facility during the second loop.
The Lake Placid Marathon was the 254th largest marathon in the U.S. last year and was the 219th largest in 2014.
Max Elevation: 1909 feet (582m)
