The Haunted Hustle Marathon course starts by winding through several miles of residential neighborhoods and downtown Middleton. This section of the course is comprised of rolling hills with a slightly challenging ascent up the south side of Parmenter hill.
The course crosses University Avenue heading north before turning into Pheasant Branch Conservancy. Here, runners are treated to a tree canopied stretch that follows the creek through the nature conservancy. The terrain is mainly flat and the surface is primarily asphalt bike path before transitioning to unpaved bike path.
Miles 11-15 are mainly rolling hills on rural roads with a challenging ascent around mile 14. The course winds its way back into the conservancy and heads west onto more asphalt bike path and remains flat and fast for several miles.
After mile 21, the course leaves the path and travels through downtown Middleton and the surrounding neighborhoods to the finish.
